Computer classes forming at Senior Center

BAY MINETTE, Ala. — Once again our nation was blessed to celebrate our national, as well as our spiritual, freedom without interruption or being threatened. For that we thank God?

And now, we can relax and enjoy the lazy summer days ahead. Maybe read a book? How about “New Mercies,” July book of the month? Then come and be with us in Flip/Flop Book Club July 13 at noon for the critique!

Sharing thoughts and opinions adds to your reading! Also, if you have a book you would like to read, it could be the next book-of-the-month book?

Hope you didn’t miss the monthly Pot Luck (second Wednesday of the month at noon!) And the opportunity to spend time with Jim Lee!

Computer classes (Monday and Wednesday) at 4 p.m. for the basics is formulating. Karen Brasier, instructor, is trying to reach those who want to know about the basics (May not even own a a computer.) Also, learning how to email (the original intent was for seniors to be able to email family and friends at the Senior Center.)

She also talked about an afternoon time to drop by and get individual questions answered! Now that interests me! So, if you are interested, please attend the class and let her know.

And, if there is enough interest, she will do a class on digital photography and the computer — possibly in the fall. She is very excited about the opportunity to share her knowledge with seniors. And what an opportunity for seniors!

It’s amazing at the growth-of-games interest. Every Tuesday through Friday, except Pot Luck Wednesday, every afternoon. Drop by and pick up a July calendar, pick your game and join in. Laughing is the best medicine and a lot of it to go around at game time.

Also, sign up for lunch at Magnolia Court in Foley (Dutch Treat) July 31, to leave the center at 10:30 a.m. on a comfortable BRAT bus.

Breakfast July 22 at the Senior Center has a good turnout and why not, with scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage, grits, biscuits! Wow! Movie Nite is Friday, July 24, and begins with a social hour spaghetti supper, followed by movie at 6 p.m. … “Dr. Zhivago.”

It appears that seniors at the center will be losing their friends at the fire department. We are happy for them that a long-time dream has come true! Hopefully, they will still take time to visit with us on Pot Luck Day.

However, we will miss their helping us out on occasion with our equipment, like family! Haven’t heard the date, but already sad.

So, let’s just kick back, enjoy the benefits of being a senior at the Senior Center and bring a friend!

Thought for the week:

‘Tis a gift to be simple, ‘tis a gift to be free.

‘Tis a gift to come round to where we ought to be.

And when we find a place that feels just right,

We will be in the valley of love and delight.

— Appalachian folk song

May God bless you and keep you until we meet again.
