Constance Virginia Macauley Arnott, 95, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y. and longtime resident of Spanish Fort, passed away Monday, Nov. 24, 2014.
Upon high school graduation, Connie became employed as an executive assistance on Wall Street in New York City. It was during this time that she met and married Matthew Richmond Arnott. They wed July 5, 1941.
In November 1961, she moved with her family to Spanish Fort, where she became an active member of the community. Connie was a member of the Auburn University Home Extension Club and a volunteer with both the Baldwin County Library System and Bayside Academy. She was also very involved with Spanish Fort United Methodist Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher, president of the United Methodist Women and church secretary for many years.
Connie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Matthew Richmond Arnott; her parents, Christopher Macauley and Alice Urban Macauley Oden; and her brother, Robert Macauley.
She is survived by her daughter and her family, Suzanne Arnott Sapp, son-in-law, Bryan Sapp, grandson, Gregory Williamson, and granddaughter, Pamela Williamson. She is also survived by her son and his family, Matthew Arnott Jr. (Scott), daughter-in-law, Jill Arnott, and granddaughters, Alex Wolfe and Elizabeth Arnott.
Connie will be remembered for her dedication to her church, her community and, most importantly, to her family. She was a remarkable mother and grandmother, and will be missed dearly.
A memorial service will be held from 11 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014 at Spanish Fort United Methodist Church.
