Mary Tuggle Lay Rogers Cook, 88, born April 1, 1921 in Homer, La., a resident of Daphne, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009 at Mercy Medical in Daphne.
She was a longtime resident of Minden, La., where she worked and retired as a nurse prior to moving to Catherine Place Assisted Living in Daphne.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loran C. Cook of Minden, La.; her parents, Rube and Alice Cosper Tuggle; and her six brothers.
Survivors include two sons, James I. (Annette) Lay Jr., of Daphne and Charles E. (Irena) Rogers of Paulina, La.; daughter, Diana Lay (Ezra) Carter of Brighton, Mich.; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Della T. Kramer of Mobile and Mable T. Wren of Minden, La.; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank the many Mercy Medical employees (Catherine Place, Mercy Rehab Hospital and Mercy Hospice) for their dedicated service and kindness.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 20 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Daphne. Graveside services followed at Pine Crest Cemetery in Mobile.
Pallbearers were her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Thomas McGee of Mobile, and the staff of Catherine Place Assisted Living, Daphne.
