COPA seeks Jumpin’ Jubilee sponsors

FAIRHOPE, Ala. — Fairhope’s Committee On Public Art (COPA) has launched a campaign to seek sponsors for its 2011 public art project, Jumpin’ Jubilee.

Similar to the highly-successful Art Takes Flight pelican project, Jumpin’ Jubilee will feature on display throughout downtown Fairhope March-July 2011, three bay creatures — shrimp, flounders and crabs — all of which crowd the shores of eastern Mobile Bay during the jubilee phenomenon.

Selected artists will be invited to paint and decorate one of 20 fiberglass flounders or 20 wooden crabs designed by found-object and special effects artist Bruce Larsen.

The project also will include six limited-edition shrimp by Larsen.

Designs will be placed in a portfolio at the Eastern Shore Art Center and on the COPA website, www.fairhopecopa.com, for selection by sponsors.

Tax-deductible sponsorships are available in categories ranging from $1,000 to $2,500.

Crab or flounder sponsorship requests are $1,000 each, and a shrimp sponsorship request is $2,500.

With each sponsorship, a varying number of incentives are offered, to include an ad in the Jubilee Book and tickets to the “Catch Of The Day” auction to take place Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at the Fairhope Civic Center.

Persons interested in sponsoring a jubilee creature should contact sponsor chairman Philip Webb at philip.webb@bxs.com or a member of COPA.

COPA is a committee of the Eastern Shore Art Center, 401 Oak St. in Fairhope.

Proceeds fund public art projects throughout Fairhope.
