Harold Warren Corbin, 86, a native of Georgia and a resident of Panama City Beach, Fla., died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007.
He was born Nov. 7, 1920 in Terrell County, Ga., to Dwight and Beulah Mae Corbin. Harold grew up in the small town of Albany, Ga., and after completing 11 years of school, he graduated from Albany High School.
After a brief engagement, he was married to Carolyn Wise of Bromwood, Ga.; and shortly thereafter, he decided to enlist in the U.S. Armed Services. He served overseas in the Army for three years during World War II and was honorably discharged.
After returning to the states, he began his work career at Keenan Welding Company as a delivery driver and worked his way up into a management position. Keenan later sold their company to Air Products and Chemicals Inc. where Corbin served as the Southeastern regional manager for many years. He was the first employee to ever receive a 40-year pin, and in 1985, he decided to retire to Panama City Beach, Fla.
He and his wife, Carolyn, enjoyed their retirement together until September of 2000, when she unexpectantly passed away. He continued to reside at the beach until his death.
They were married for 59 years, and they had two sons, Richard W. “Dick” Corbin and Steven M. Corbin.
Survivors include two sons, Dick (Gloria) Corbin of Spanish Fort and Steve (Cathy) Corbin of Birmingham; three grandchildren, Hal (Amy) Corbin of Northport, Tyler (Lizzie) Corbin of Mobile and Casey (Don Ross) Pate of Birmingham; two great-grandchildren, Gracie Corbin and Lillie Pate.
Graveside services and interment will be held at 3 p.m. (EDT) Monday, Oct. 8 at Floral Memorial Gardens, Albany, Ga.
Arrangements are by Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., Daphne.
