FOLEY, Ala. — One might say the activity at Graham Creek Nature Preserve on Saturday was enough to wake the living dead.
That’s because 115 participants descended on the park for Corpse Crawl 2014, a 5K mud run designed to raise funds for the Foley High School Cross Country program and the Preserve.
According to City of Foley Environmental Manager Leslie Lassiter Gahagan, the event drew enthusiasts from quite a distance.
“Twenty percent came from at least 100 miles away,” she said.
For their efforts, runners wound their way through such obstacles as an abandoned bus infested with “zombies” aka FHS Cross Country volunteers, several walls to scale and a section of mud to negotiate — all with the threat of more zombies at any time.
After reaching the finish line, door prizes were awarded, with Fox 10 Meteorologist Michael White announcing winners.
Additional Foley feeder pattern school sports programs also offered concessions for sale at the event.
