CORRECTION: Police say Orange Beach suspect not deceased after crash in Bear Point

Posted

GULF SHORES, Ala. - Just after 5 a.m. on Sunday, May 19 Gulf Shores police officers observed a stolen vehicle and began following it. The driver of the vehicle fled and lost control.

The vehicle ended up partially in the ICW near Tacky Jacks. Officers set up a perimeter and eventually took the driver, a male, into custody.

As they were attempting to stop this vehicle GSPD officers observed two other vehicles that were also believed to be stolen. Orange Beach PD and Sheriff’s Deputies eventually made contact with the additional vehicles.

The driver of the vehicle contacted by OBPD lost control and struck a power pole on Canal Road in the Bear Point area. That suspect is not deceased as previously reported by police.

It is possible, but yet to be determined that all three suspects are related.  Several items believed to be stolen from recent burglaries were recovered from the cars. Two of the vehicles were stolen in Gulf Shores and the other was stolen in Pensacola.

This investigation is just beginning.  More details will be available on Monday afternoon.
