DAPHNE, Ala. — Having opened the season with a win at Cottage Hill Christian, Bayside Academy’s Lady Admirals knew the Lady Warriors would be looking to even the score.

They did, and then some.

Visiting CHCA turned a modest lead into a 16-6 blowout at Bayside Academy on Monday afternoon. A seven-run sixth inning by CHCA fueled by errors proved too much for the Admirals' young team.

“We just had too many errors,” said BA coach Brittany Davidson. “We will get to two outs and then (make) simple little throwing and catching errors. If we can capitalize on those and get the third out without giving up any runs we would be OK.”

The Lady Admirals fell to 2-6 and travel to Brewton to face T.R. Miller in a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader on Thursday. CHCA improved to 4-7 overall.

Freshman Sydney Chandler struck out 12 but allowed 10 hits and eight walks. Molly Fortner got the win for CHCA on eight hits, six walks and struck out eight.

“My pitcher and catcher did a good job today,” Davidson said. “Sydney pitched a full game and Lockett Nelson did a good job behind the plate blocking balls, so I was happy with that.”

Chandler was 3-for-3 at the plate with a triple and two doubles, Nelson went 2-for-4 and Aly Chastain had an RBI double for the Lady Admirals.

“We finally started hitting the ball and getting on base there in the sixth inning,” Davidson said. “I would like to do that before then.”
