Council makes short work of agenda

ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — The Robertsdale City Council met at 8 a.m. on Monday this week. The Council Members were all present at role call and eager to tackle the business at hand.

First on the agenda was the public hearing regarding Diane Kaiser’s rezoning request to change her stated property from a R-1 to B-1 designation. The Planning Commission’s recommendation to the Council was to deny the request. Despite this, the Council tabled any discussion of the decision due to Kaiser’s absence from the meeting.

The Council then voted unanimously for the reappointment of Jim Arnett to the Zoning Board of Adjustments.

The Central Baldwin Middle School Cheer Booster Club was present at the meeting. Representatives of the club, requested from the Council a donation of $1,000. The Council voted to approve this request, with the abstention of Councilman Hollingsworth.

The Lady Bears Softball Team also requested a sign sponsorship of $250. This was approved by the Council with the abstention of Councilman Hollingsworth.

Next the Robertsdale City Council approved to cede Baldwin County a portion of the right away near the intersection of County Road 48 and County Road 71.

Next on the agenda was the annexation request regarding the 176 acres of property belonging to the Edwards/Outlaw families at the East end of Wilter’s Street as Zoning Class B-1. The Council unanimously approved the annexation.

Finally the Council discussed and voted to approve changes to the business license ordinance. Said changes were required by the State of Alabama. With this, the Council voted close discussion and to adjourn for the day.
