SILVERHILL, Ala. — The Silverhill Town Council made short work of its regular meeting on Monday at the Silverhill Town Hall.
Mayor Pro-Tem Jared Lyles presided over the meeting on Monday in the absense of Mayor Tim Wilson. Council member Steve Brooks was also not present at Monday’s meeting.
The council’s only action from the agenda was to vote in support of the Alabama Coastal Captive Insurance Act, which was passed last year by the State Legislature.
The action had been tabled from both the Dec. 1 and Dec. 15 meetings so the ordinance could reflect the correct wording from the Baldwin County Commission.
The vote passed unanimously with Lyles and Council members Shirley Stephens, Bert Jones and Rodney Criswell present at Monday’s meeting.
In other business Monday, the council:
— Discussed setting a budget meeting for Monday, Jan. 12, but tabled the decision in order to coordinate everyone’s schedules.
— Approved the Silverhill Volunteer Fire Department roster for 2009.
— Authorized Superintendent of Utilities Steve Williams to purchase 100 feet of 6-inch pipe at $3 per foot and 800 feet of 8-inch pipe at $4.15 per foot at a total cost of $2,420 to complete the running of water lines to Baumann Road. Williams said the completion of the pipes would bring the town’s water lines all the way to the edge of Fairhope’s water lines in that area.
