ROBERTSDALE, Ala. - The Robertsdale City Council voted Monday morning on a salary increase for city officials.

Ordinance No. 20-07, was passed by a 5 to 1 margin, opposed solely by Council Member Sue Cooper, who insisted that the current compensation level was satisfactory.

“I felt we could better spend the money on something else within the community,” Cooper said. “This is not our main occupation, but rather to compensate us for the time we invest.”

In other business the city council:

— Voted to purchase two new police cars by the Robertsdale Police Department.

— Voted to apply for a $25,000 technology grant from ADECA for the department. The money will be used to purchase cameras, software, hardware, etc.

— Secured bids for the Robertsdale Fire Department for a recue pumper truck.
