STOCKTON — Plans for Stockton’s annual Wild Game Cook-Off are near completion.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 14 at Old School Yard Park on Highway 59 in Stockton. Food will be available to the public beginning at 4 p.m.

Organizers say there are a few more slots available for cooking teams to enter the competition. To register a two-member team, call 251-937-6623. Entries may be in either the wild game or camp food category. Cash prizes will be awarded by an impartial panel of judges.

This year there will be no silent auction, but more items are being added to the live auction. Many supportive merchants have donated items including electric and propane grills, smokers, elegant dinners, overnight stays at local attractions, a hardwood steamer chase lounge, and many more sure to generate lively bidding. The auction will be called by William Broadus #2882 Mack Bryant #145.

Many local bakers have signed up to participate in the bake sale. Pies, cakes and cookies will be available for purchase. Anyone who has ever attended the event before can attest to the fact that Stockton is well-known for exceptional prize-winning bakers! Also on hand will be delicious homemade ice cream free to every ticket holder.

Tickets will be available at the gate for $15. In addition to sampling the many wild game and camp dishes, guests are invited to enjoy music by an onsite DJ and view a display of art from local school children. The art show is being sponsored by the Five Arts Club of Stockton to stimulate art appreciation and give students a venue to showcase their handiwork.
