ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — An undercover operation targeting “street level drug dealers” in Baldwin County netted 18 arrests Tuesday. The arrests were made by agents of the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, The Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Marshall Task Force, the Baldwin County District Attorney's Office, the Daphne Police Department, the Foley Police Department and the Loxley Police Department.
Fourteen suspects remain at large, and the BCSO says that there are other investigations going on at this time. More arrests are expected.
According to the release, the arrests were in the following communities: Daphne, four; Foley, six; Loxley, three; Robertsdale, one; Lillian, one; Fairhope, two, and Summerdale, one.
“The idea was to get (the drugs) off the street and hopefully, move it out of the county,” said David Wilson, the Foley Police Chief. Wilson admitted that it would probably be impossible to eliminate drugs in the county, because dealers “move and change tactics,” but such raids do their part to reduce drug use and the associated crime in the various communities.
“We caught three in Loxley,” said Loxley Police Chief John Cason. “We are looking for more. Most of of the charges involve distributing controlled substances.”
Cason said later that most of the Loxley charges involved “crack” cocaine.
Should the Loxley police need it, they can call on the drug task force for their expertise in handling contaminated sites (as is common with methamphetamine production.)
Major Anthony Lowery of the BCSO said that by banding together, the departments could become stronger.
“It’s a resource issue,” Lowery said. “Not one of these areas have the resources to combat the problem alone.”
The drugs recovered is a “small amount,” according to Lowery, but the undercover operations did net a “large number of dealers.”
According to information provided by the BCSO, Reginald Crawford, Terry Wright, Timothy Autry, Byron Sledge, Corey Pruitt, Alonzo Towner, Donoeva Robinson, Timothy Ikner, Christina Qualls, Jerron Grimes, Jason Mims, Markief Eaton, Clifton Heard, Gregory Pope, Frederick Goodwin, Odell Holly Jr., Samuel McDonald and DeQuinton Clark were all arrested and charged with drug trafficking offenses.
Police are still looking for: Ramero Perdue, Cassandra Ikner, Robert Walton, Kevin Sledge, Sonia Sledge, Craig Mims, Ryan Kay, Terrell Mickles, Jonathan Minor, Frank Dennis Jr., Rodney Barnett, Lance Nettles, Quentin Goodwin, and Marquis Prim. If you know the whereabouts of any of these individuals, call the BCSO at (251) 937-0202, or contact your local police department.
