Sherman Cowart, 90, a native of Crossroads and a resident of Bay Minette, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2007 at North Baldwin Infirmary in Bay Minette.
He was self-employed and owned two shoe repair shops in Bay Minette and was a residential carpenter and painter. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include a son, Murphy R Cowart of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Juanita McMillan and Minerva C. Peaden, both of Bay Minette; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two stepsons, Charles Styron of Bay Minette and Walter Styron of Montrose; and one stepdaughter, Sue Emmons of Robertsdale.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 12 from the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Welch officiating. Burial followed at Bay Minette Cemetery. Military honors were rendered at graveside by the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
