Craig Sherwood Chastang, age 61, born in Mobile, and a resident of Stapleton, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012 at South Baldwin Hospital.
He is survived by his children, Ashley Chastang Freckman (Jerrod) Hardy of Daphne; Heather Fawn (Phillip Gruber) Chastang and Josh Craig Pierre (Elizabeth Clark) Chastang both of Gulf Shores; Theodore Elias “Eli” Chastang and Savannah Yvonne Chastang both of San Jose, Calif.; two sisters, Patsy C. (Craig) Stark of Birmingham, and Linda C. Hughes of Daphne; three grandchildren who called him “Papa Pa”, Braxton Aaron Freckman, Lauren Elizabeth Freckman and Ashton Wright Hardy and other relatives and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore A. and Alice Roberts Chastang. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with the Rev. Chuck McPherson officiating. Burial will follow at Chastang Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 from noon until the 2 p.m. service at Norris Funeral Home. Although the family will accept flowers, they suggest memorial contributions be made to the American Kidney Foundation, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852.
