DAPHNE, Ala.—The Haven will host a fundraising event at Paint and Pals in Daphne to raise funds for the adoption guarantee animal shelter on April 21 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

There will be four pre-sketched pictures available to paint at the event. Wine and appetizers will be provided and door prizes will be handed out during the event. The event is limited to 50 participants and reservations are required and can be made by calling 251-654-2313 or by going to www.paintandpals.com. The painting class will cost $40 and the Haven will make $20 from each admission price.

The Haven shelter was opened in 2000 and finds homes for 900 animals each year.

“What we do is actually house the animals here at a facility so we are here 24/7, we are not just an office,” Michael Graham, executive director of the shelter said.

The Paint and Pals fundraiser is one of the annual fundraisers the shelter uses to support its endeavors. Graham is hoping this fundraiser will raise $1,000 for the shelter.

“We use the funds to care for the animals like Speckles, who was kicked in the face and had his eye removed. It goes to the medical care for the animals here,” Graham said.

Graham said even those who are not especially artistic will enjoy themselves at this event.

“Being a guy, I went to both of them but I was kind of hesitant when I went I really had a good time … You can go have a good time, learn something and maybe bring a memory home,” Graham said.
