The police should have been in charge of the search, directing every facet, every turn; that the crime scene was close to where she was last known to be, for it to be that her family found her—and then that cheap shot, the police again, to bring up a non-descript minor prescription pill incident, to try to whip it into something more, to tarnish the deceased, unjustly, like that.
Small-town police, still no excuse; the state should step in, investigate. There is a true chance they will not find the perpetrator of this heinous crime.
Let us keep in mind: Why are we out all hours of the night, going from one bar to another? The dangers are real; most are out for fun, others are out to turn the night into their brand of fun. They do not take no for the answer and the fun they want.
Keep in mind, going from bar to bar can lead to DWI (driving while intoxicated); if serious, death at another’s hands.
Somebody in the group—and for safety it should be a group—needs to stay sober and be the only one allowed behind the wheel, whatever the circumstance.
Editor’s Note: Brianna Parish’s family has disputed the Daphne Police Department’s allegations of the deceased woman’s supposed drug use; police, however, stand by the report and say they can’t compromise the case by expounding on the matter.
No official cause of death has been released, as of Monday’s early, holiday opinion-page press deadline.
