LOXLEY, Alabama — A Tennessee man passed through Baldwin County on Friday on his quest to carry a cross from coast to coast.

Mitchell Manning is about 2 ½ months into his journey, which began in Jacksonville, Florida, with the goal of walking to San Diego.

“My goal is to walk from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific coast,” he said after stopping along Highway 59 just south of Loxley on Friday. “As a Christian I want to tell people about Jesus, but I’ve always been shy. I decided that this would be a good way to spread the “Good News” across America.”

Manning said he did not have individual sponsors, but plenty of people have helped him along the way.
