Gertrude Martin Cuddy, 93, a native of California, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007.
Earning an English degree at UCLA, she began a career in education in support roles from kindergarten to America River Jr. College in California, to the University of Southern Maine. She was a volunteer at the Bridgton hospital and public library. As an avid reader and traveler, she came to Fairhope in 1998.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis M. Cuddy of Pollock Pines, Calif., and Bruce R. Cuddy of Phoenix; a daughter, Jan Hilyer of Fairhope; grandchildren, Erin Brady Langley and Kyle R Brady of Fairhope, Cheryl Cuddy Cormany of Valencia, Calif., Brian Cuddy of Sacramento, Calif., Lisa Cuddy Soelburg of Oceanside, Calif., Tyler Cuddy of Pollock Pines, Calif., and four great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 11 at the home of Jan Hilyer with the Rev. Jeff Ingram officiating.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the Fairhope Public Library.
