FOLEY, Alabama — As the world becomes more and more interconnected through technology, dealing with threats to cybersecurity has become the focus of a lot of businesses, both large and small.

“It’s not the most glamorous topic in the world, but it’s one of the most important,” said Phillip Long, owner and CEO of Business Information Solutions. “It’s important for me to provide education and knowledge and provide a service so that business owners can focus on other things, such as providing their services to their customers.”

With more than 15 years of experience in the technology field, Long specializes in providing technology solutions and security consulting to businesses along the Gulf Coast. Long formed BIS in Robertsdale in 2001, which now consists of three divisions, as well as the Veritas consulting firm.

In partnership with Barracuda Networks, an IT security company, Long hosted a cybersecurity seminar June 9 at Wolf Bay Lodge, focusing on the seven threats to cybersecurity and ways businesses can protect themselves from cybersecurity threats.

“The biggest threat to cybersecurity is you,” Long said. “A little paranoia goes a long way in helping with threats to cybersecurity.”
