SPANISH FORT, Ala.—The USS Alabama might seem an unlikely place to stage a play, unless the plot centers around a country girl "finding stardom and love aboard a battleship."
SummerTide Theatre, the University of Alabama’s professional summer theatre will perform numbers from their eighth annual production of "Dames at Sea" aboard the battleship beginning at 2 p.m. June 12.
The free show is open to the public, but normal park admission to USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park will still apply. (For a complete listing of admission fees, visit www.ussalabama.com.)
The full production, however, runs through July 1 every Tuesday through Sunday at the George C. Meyer Performing Arts Center in Gulf Shores beginning at 8 p.m.
"Dames at Sea" is directed by Edmond Williams, professor of theater and founding chairman of the UA Department of Theater and Dance.
