DAPHNE, Ala. — The Daphne City Council voted unanimously to appropriate funds to begin repairs on Al Trione Sports Complex; some amenities received damage from a Dec. 11 storm.
During the storm, the complex endured around $75,000 worth of damage including: eight overturned bleachers; three downed baseball fences; and torn roof shingles on dugouts and the concession stand.
The council appropriated $6,350 to fix the fences and netting damage, which Recreation Department athletic coordinator Charlie McDavid said is a timely matter because evaluations for youth baseball and softball would begin in February and the city is renting the complex for a soccer tournament.
McDavid said the fences aren’t needed for the evaluations, but that they need to be fixed for tournaments.
