DAPHNE, Alabama — Daphne High assistant football coach and history teacher Jacy Todd was injured in a two-vehicle traffic accident on Hwy. 181 Wednesday morning.
He remains in the intensive care unit at USA Medical Center in Mobile with multiple internal injuries and apparent paralysis according to a statement by Daphne head football coach and athletic director Glenn Vickery.
A web site has been set up so that friends and family can get updates on Todd's condition and leave messages for he and his wife, Dyeatra.
"He's in bad shape, still in ICU," Vickery said Thursday afternoon, asking for prayers for the young coach and educator who also suffered broken ribs, a cracked sternum and a collapsed lung.
A spokesperson with the Daphne Police Dept. said a crash fitting that description took place about 8 a.m., Wednesday on 181 near the Interstate-10-Malbis interchange and is still under investigation. The spokesperson added that because the accident report remains open, details including names of those involved cannot be released.
"He's everything you can ask for in a coach and educator. We're praying, we're asking everybody to say a prayer, for him to get back to his family and to get back to what he loves doing," Vickery said.
