DAPHNE, Ala.—The Daphne City Council on Monday approved the request of the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce to schedule the 2011 Jubilee Festival for Sept. 24-25.

The annual festival will be in its 23rd year, and the council set the date with unanimous support and no discussion.

“Again, we’re looking forward to this year being a good one,” Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce President Darrelyn Bender said. “We’re very excited and it’s a great partnership and it’s a great way to promote Olde Towne Daphne.”

In other news, the council:

  • Unanimously approved the reorganization and reclassification of personnel and positions at the Civic Center. “We’re reorganizing two positions at the Civic Center into one position,” Councilman August Palumbo said.
  • Unanimously approved to allow Cub Scout Pak 87 permission to “Adopt a Mile” from 1501 Main St. to 602 Main St.
