DAPHNE, Ala. — The Daphne City Council will finally vote on a subject that has been argued and discussed among city officials and residents for more than two months.
At the upcoming Monday council meeting — which begins at 6:30 p.m. in City Hall — the proposed amendment to the city’s Land Use Ordinance will be a “second read” and the council will vote either to accept or reject the changes to the table of permitted uses that would allow bowling alleys and family entertainment centers in a B-1 — local business — zone with Planning Commission approval.
The subject has been debated for more than a month, and the council voted 4-3 at the Nov. 1 meeting to set a public hearing date for the Dec. 6 meeting.
Council members Bailey Yelding Jr., Cathy Barnette, Kelly Reese and Ron Scott voted in favor of having the public hearing, while councilmen John Lake, Derek Boulware and August Palumbo voted against having the public hearing.
