MOBILE, Ala. – Daphne shutout the Williamson Lions 24-0 Friday night as they improved their record to 4-0 overall and maintained their position atop the 6A Region 2 standings.

Although neither defense was willing to give up consistent yardage, the Trojans' dialed up a few key plays allowing for offensive production, in spite of being hit by more than 150 yards in penalties.

"It wasn't a good game," Daphne Coach Glenn Vickery said afterward. "It was hard to watch because we didn't play well. Good teams don't allow that many penalties, whether it's isolated or not."

Senior quarterback Russ Mosley drove 50 yards in the first quarter, allowing senior running back Tyrell Holloway to score on a 19-yard scamper. Kicker Brandon Roberts hit a 28-yard field goal in the second quarter to lead the Lions 10-0 at halftime. In the start of the second half, Mosley took advantage of a Lions' turnover to hook-up with senior wide receiver Justin Jackson on a 22-yard touchdown pass. The Trojans rounded out the scoring on a 67-yard punt return for a touchdown by Israel Lamprakes.

Daphne returns home Friday night to meet Theodore, who were unable to covert two-point conversions against Murphy this week in their first loss of the season.

"They're very talented team, they had the game won Friday night until a touchdown was called back,” Vickery said of Theodore. “Theodore has one of the best quarterbacks in Alabama and I expect them to bring a tough game."
