DAPHNE, Alabama—Devonte Young grabbed his 10th rebound of the game with 14 seconds left in overtime and his team down by a point 68-67 to Theodore at Trojan Gym Thursday night. With no time outs left, Young fed Chris Sain who found Bradley Nero underneath for the go-ahead with 3.5 seconds to go. Nero was then fouled after making a steal on the THS inbound and made one free throw for the 70-68 Daphne win.

The Trojans improved to 6-5 while Theodore dropped to 2-9. Sain finished with 21 points for DHS, Ronnie Davis added 12, Young picked up his seventh double-double with 10, Nero (has six double-doubles) added eight points with 10 rebounds and C.J. Yelding had six, including a big 3-pointer in overtime. Dazon Ingram led the Bobcats with the game-high 22 points while Rodney Gill added 18 and Demano Walter nine. DHS was 14-of-22 at the free-throw line while the Bobcats went 26-for 35.

"I'm happy to get a win like this under our belts this early in the season, especially at home," said Daphne head coach Cedric Yelding. "I'm proud of the way the guys didn't quit and kept coming back. Seems like it always goes down to the wire with them. It's turned into a pretty big rivalry. I don't know how many one-point games we've had through the years. It's always tough. Coach (Philip) Roebling does a great job getting his teams ready. They're always well-coached and compete every time out."

Tied 57-57 to start the overtime, Daphne took a 60-57 lead early but trailed 66-62 with 70 seconds remaining. C.J. Yelding hit a trey from the corner to make it a one-point game. Yelding then had to use his fifth foul to stop the clock and send Ingram to the line where he regained the lead for THS 68-65. But Sain made it 68-67 with a put-back and Nero stole the inbound for the final go-ahead bucket.

Yelding said his team still needs to work on aspects of the game.

"We didn't maintain our focus at times tonight," he said. "But we found a way to stay close. When you do that you always have a chance to win the game. We need to make our free throws more consistently and need to make better passing decisions on offense. We're having success with Bradley and Devonte inside when we get the ball to them. Taylor Boyd is contributing in there and gives us a chance to rest some and keep fresh.

"The defense is looking good, creating turnovers and—like tonight—made some big ones that we were able to capitalize on, especially late in the game. But I really liked the way the kids handled themselves after we lost the lead again with 33 seconds left. Showed a lot of maturity out there, but they're still kids and we have to work on maintaining that kind of maturity in every game."

The 'Cats took an 18-13 lead into the second period, but Daphne rebounded to even the halftime score 23-23. The third period ended with Theodore in front 40-36 but the Trojans won the final eight minutes 21-17 to tie it in regulation.

Daphne will play in the Blount High Christmas tournament which begins Dec. 27 in Prichard. Theodore's next game will be at Baker  in the Daniel Bumpers Invitational Dec. 27.
