The kindergarteners have been working on many new things in their classrooms so far.
In math, they are working on shapes, sorting, graphing and patterns. All of the classes have been working on the letters “M” and “T” in their reading classes.
In social studies, they are learning about how apples grow. They even graphed their favorite kind of apple (red, yellow, or green) by doing a taste test.
In science, Mrs. Nelson’s class has been working on the six senses. Special displays were put up, too, including family trees, apples paintings, and frog family lily pads.
The first grade has been studying addition in math. In reading, they are learning about the short “o” sound in words while reading, “The Big Blue Ox.” For their English lessons, they are learning to write complete sentences, naming parts of sentences, and finding the “action” parts.
They have some very creative displays of their “Pig in a Wig” puppets. As you can tell, these students have been working really hard!
The second grade is busy learning “doubles” facts in math, studying the rain forest and the desert in reading, and learning about sentences in English.
In science, they are learning about animal groups, and in social studies, they are learning to use maps to find locations. In Ms. Sirmon’s class, the students made cool coloring pages of themselves. Way to go!
In the third grade, the students are working with three digit subtraction. In reading class, they are reading “If I Had a Million.” They are also studying land forms in social studies and plants in science.
Mrs. Seibert has a display on mix-and-match animals on her wall, along with a “ones, tens, and hundreds” display.
In fourth grade, students have been working on rounding, place value, and how to solve equations in math class. They have also been studying sequencing, the river systems in Alabama, and the tools that scientists use.
In reading, students read the story “Because of Winn Dixie.” After reading, they created paintings of the characters from this story.
In Ms. Jackson and Ms. Golden’s class, students are working on Mississippian Indian projects and creating Cinquain poems.
The fifth grade is reviewing sentence structure, Native Americans, and the different kinds of rocks. They are creating a “book report on a bag” for their reading classes.
The sixth graders are studying immigration in social studies, the atmosphere in science, decimals in math, and facts and opinions in reading class.
They are creating family tree projects where they tell about their ancestors by showing a power point presentation.
Great job, sixth grade!
