This is just a reminder that Kindergarten Registration is scheduled for next Thursday, April 19th from 8-2:30 in the school auditorium. Parents that intend to register their upcoming Kindergartener should bring the following items: their child, their child’s Social Security card, birth certificate, 2 proofs of residency (power bill, house payment, etc), and official Blue Card. This is a very exciting time for DES and everyone is looking forward to meeting the newest students to DES!

This week, Mrs. Spriggs’ class is learning about animals that they can visit in the zoo. They took a field trip to the zoo this week and had so much fun seeing the many different animals. Next week the class is learning about insects and subtraction. It is hard to believe the students are almost 1st Graders!

The following DES students have artwork hanging in the Pelican’s Palette Gallery at the Daphne Thomas Hospital location. The artwork shows examples of their work on Medieval Personal Crests and Crab inspired by artist Walter Anderson. The work will be displayed during the month of April. The students are: Mary Frohne, Jarrett Lemieux, Tommie Lynn Smith, Gavin Fussnecker, Kyla Snowden, Thad Willoughby, Ella Kate Hewes, Morgan Phillips, Gabriela Salas, Stella Jones, Oscar Sandefur, Ashleigh Harrub, Emma Grace Siver, Aidan Whitfield, Trenton Parrish, Ryan Carraway, Conner Burtnett, Kaylee Kemp, Shaniah Shaw, Caroline Krebs, Dominick Settles, Aston Winsett, and Xavier Crespo.

Congratulations to the Goldentones, the 3rd grade choir, for a fantastic performance at the Music Extravaganza!  The Kindergarten and 1st grade classes had fun learning the “Bunny Hop”.  The 2nd grades learned a Mexican dance called “La Raspa” and the 3rd grades are practicing reading and writing notes on the music staff.

DES third graders are busy completing their ARMT testing this week. Please make sure your student is has a good night’s rest, a good breakfast in the morning, and gets to school on time.
