DAPHNE, Ala. — When the children in Viki McGinty's kindergarten class at Daphne Elementary School heard about the upcoming Honor Flight on Sept. 22, they were eager to send in goodies for the many veterans making the trip to Washington, D.C. war monuments.

Students brought in chips, crackers, cookies, hard candy and lip balm. They also made more than 80 “thank you cards” for their new friends.

Children also looked at many online pictures of how the men and women looked and dressed so many years ago, when they were serving their country during the Korean War, World War II and other conflicts.
