Daphne grad Sage Woodham named ‘Pitcher of the Decade’

Posted

Sage Woodham, former Daphne High School and University of Alabama Huntsville softball standout, was recognized this summer as being the Gulf Souths Conference softball Pitcher of the Decade for her outstanding achievements for the Chargers. Woodham wrapped up her collegiate career by leading UAH to the Division II College World Series championship game in 2009.

"I was not ever expecting to get this award," Woodham said. "Mainly because I did not know it existed but there have been so many great pitchers go through the GSC. I have truly been blessed and God has put wonderful people in my life. I have really appreciated my parents Nancy and Terry Woodham who have trained, coached, stood by me and loved me throughout my playing years. I have to thank all my coaches throughout high school and summer ball including my parents, Coach (Lawrence) Yelding (at Daphne High), and Derek Walters (Mobile Thrillers summer ball)."
