DAPHNE – The Daphne Lady Trojans got an early wake-up call to open the 2010 volleyball season.
The 2A Cottage Hill Christian Academy Warriors upset 6A Daphne 30-28, 25-20, 16-25, 25-18 in the season opener at Daphne's Trojan Gym last week.
Former Daphne player and now head coach Edoli Herrion said her team did not play to potential but will improve.
"We just couldn't seem to make it work," she said. "We weren't able get it together and play as a team. Our serving was good, but we made errors at critical times," she said. "Our serve-receive was off at times and on our placement, we need to get a little smarter. This team is good and going to get better. That much I know. Our free-ball play was pretty good and when we started talking, that's when we won. But we definitely have some things to work on."
