The Daphne Library will host a parent and teen Back to School workshop on Tuesday, Sept. 13.
Students in sixth through twelfth grades are encouraged to attend.
The Build a Healthy Plate program will be discussed by Elizabeth Phillips, Alabama Extension Agent for Mobile and Baldwin County.
Phillips will discuss concepts consistent with the most recent USDA guidelines to ensure a healthy diet for the entire family. She will encourage families to start building a better plate and find out if your family is eating for optimum health. Additional topics will include food safety and proper hand washing.
A “germs on hands” activity will be provided to graphically show the importance of proper washing procedures. A germ stimulating powder and UV light will be used to perform the activity. Parents are encouraged to attend.
All participants will receive a Back to School Tool Kit.
The program will begin at 3:30 p.m. and will be held in the library community room. Space is limited, so register early. Call 621-2818 ext. 211 or email lyoungblood@daphneal.com to ensure your place in the class.
