DAPHNE, Ala.—The Daphne Planning Commission approved unanimously a site plan review for the Daphne Central Services Facility under the contingency that Well Road would be improved.

The 9.5-acre property is northeast of the intersection of Pollard Road and Well Road.

“The Public Works director (Richard Johnson) said (Well Road) needs to be improved from Pollard Road to Public Works Road,” Mayor Fred Small said. “The road needs to be paved … I think we have an opportunity to improve that road.”

According to the city’s development director, Daphne Utilities General Manager Rob McElroy and Johnson talked about working to get the road improved as much as possible.

In other news, the commission:

•Unanimously approved a site plan review for the Springs at Eastern Shore residential complex for over 20 acres of land zoned B-2, general business, and R-4, high density multi-family residential.

•Unanimously approved a final plat review for the Dunmore property on the east side of Alabama Highway 181, south of Austin Road and north of Dick Higbee Road. The commission voted 6-2 in favor of the review. Commissioners Cathy Barnette, Ed Kirby, Fire Chief Bo White, Don Terry, Dan Gibson and Larry Chason voted in favor while Small and Joe Lemoine voted against it.

•Gave a favorable recommendation for the re-zoning of a portion of the Caroline Woods property from R-3, high-density single family residential, to an R-4 zoning.

•Unanimously approved a final plat review for a 4-acre section of the Caroline Woods property located northeast of the Parker Lane and Whispering Pines Road intersection.

•Unanimously approved a preliminary plat review for just more than a 12-acre section of the Caroline Woods property located northeast of the Parker Lane and Whispering Pines Road intersection.

•Unanimously approved a motion to change the monthly meeting time from 6 p.m. to 5 p.m.
