DAPHNE, Ala.— Reilly Maginn of Daphne was honored in a writing contest held in conjunction with the Tennessee Mountain Writers annual conference. Contest winners in seven categories were announced and awards presented during the conference banquet.
In the Patricia Boatner Fiction Award category, Maginn received second-place recognition for his entry, “High Iron.”
The 2009 conference featured banquet speaker and nonfiction presenter Ronda Rich, bestselling author of “What Southern Women Know (That Every Woman Should),” now in its 27th printing. Other principal workshop leaders included Beverly Conner, fiction; Cathy Smith Bowers, poetry; and Lynne Berry, writing for young people. This project was funded in part under an agreement with the Tennessee Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts.
