DAPHNE, Ala.—The Daphne City Council will honor Old Methodist Church Museum President Mickey Boykin at tomorrow’s council meeting for her service to the city.

The proclamation reads: “Therefore, be it resolved that the mayor and city council of the city of Daphne, Alabama hereby proclaim their appreciation to Mrs. Mickey Boykin for her untiring efforts and personal dedication toward improving the quality of life for the citizens of the city of Daphne.”

Boykin said she didn’t know what she was being recognized for until today.

“Right now I’m speechless and certainly honored that I am going to be honored for my work for the city,” Boykin said. “I couldn’t do this, especially with the museum, without the volunteers that have been so supportive and worked so hard to keep this going.”

Boykin has served as museum president for six years, and she has lived in Daphne most of her life.
