DAPHNE, Ala. — There will be plenty of purple and gold Tuesday, March 8 at Jubilee Stadium in Daphne when the "cross town" soccer rivals of Fairhope and Daphne meet for the first time this season. Come join the fun and also help the Daphne Soccer Booster Club support a great cause. Bring all your unwanted Mardi Gras Beads to the Fat Tuesday game and the booster club will collect them and send them over to ARC of Greater New Orleans. ARC, a non-profit organization, serves people with intellectual disabilities and delays from birth through adulthood in Orleans, Jefferson and St. Bernard parishes. They provide jobs for people with intellectual disabilities by employing them to sort and bag recycled Mardi Gras beads. The profits from these bead sales also go to fund their programs.
The booster club will have a collection bin for each team and challenges the Daphne and Fairhope communities to support their team by seeing who can collect the most. There will be plenty of other Mardi Gras excitement that night as well. So join us for a great night of soccer, a great night of Mardi Gras fun and a great night for our communities to give. Girls kick off at 5:30 and boys 7:30.
