DAPHNE, Alabama — Williamson's zone was no problem for Daphne Friday, as the Trojans connected on six 3-pointers on the night for a close 55-54 triumph. Daphne improved to 1-4.

Daphne coach Cedric Yelding was happy for the win, stating, “We have some work to do but I am proud of our guys. We missed a lot of free throws and need to work on finishing the game strong, but overall, it was a good effort tonight.”

Leading 51-38 at the end of the third quarter, the Lions would hold the Trojans to just 3 points in the final quarter. However, a costly Williamson turnover with 14 seconds remaining forced the Lions to foul. McGaster missed the front end of the one-and-one and Williamson scored off a fast break, cutting the lead to 54-55 with 2.7 seconds remaining. A quick time-out allowed Williamson to set up in a press defense. Williamson fouled quickly, putting Sain on the line. A strategic missed free throw by Sain with 1.7 seconds remaining was not enough time for Williamson to score. Sain led all scorers, finishing with 18 points.
