FOLEY—The Lions and Trojans traded points for 48 minutes, but the last 48 seconds would mean the most. After 53 points and 29 possessions, Daphne stopped a final Foley drive on a Justin Jackson interception of a Darius Powell pass with 48 ticks to go for a 34-29 Region win at Ivan Jones Stadium.

The Trojans improved to 2-1 in region play while Foley dropped to 2-2.

"When you're 1-4 (overall) to start with, everything's big," said Daphne coach Glenn Vickery. "I mean Foley is a very good football team and for our kids to come down here and win has got to help our confidence. It's always a big game when we play Foley and we have tons of respect for those guys. This was such a great atmosphere and as a coach you hope, you want, to build from this because we beat a very good football team."

DHS scored on their first drive that started from their own 43 on a reverse pitch to Israel Lamprakes at the Foley 12 four minutes into the game. The Trojans went up 14-0 on the sixth play of their second drive when T.J. Yeldon punched it in on one-yard dive with 2:42 left in the first period.

The Lions' third drive was the one-play charm as Kalif Koen skated 57 yards on a first-and-10 off-tackle slant just 21 seconds after DHS scored.

Foley got on the board again on the third play of the second quarter when Powell found Marcus Washington on a middle screen good for a 14 yard TD to cap a 24-yard drive. The score was set up by a fumble recovery by Rashad Roper at the Trojans' 24 on Daphne's third drive.

Josh Rhoads had hit both of his extra points, but Jorge Santa Maria missed his second attempt to make it a 14-13 DHS lead.

Daphne got the ball back after a Foley fumble recovered by Thedric Law led to a 66-yard drive capped by a 55-yard Russ Mosley to Lamprakes pass to put DHS up 21-13.

The Lions roared back, though, with a 70-yard, nine-play series with Washington breaking through on a fourth-and-one slant at the Trojan 18. Foley elected to go for two points, but Daphne's Leo Battiste broke up the PAT pass attempt to make it 21-19 at 3:56.

DHS scored again on series seven to go 55 yards on just three pass plays. Mosley hit Lamprakes for 13, through an incompletion, then went deep to Justin Jackson who took it in on a 32-yard toss with 34.3 seconds left in the half to give DHS a 28-19 half-time lead.

Foley stopped the Trojans after one first down to start the third and took over at the Lions' 20. Five first downs later, Powell took it in on a quarterback keeper from the Daphne 10.

Santa Maria's PT made it a two point game with DHS ahead 28-26 with 4:33 left in the third.

Daphne was unable to get a first down on their next series, but another Foley fumble gave it back to the Trojans at the DHS 41. But Daphne fumbled it right back Stewart Joiner recovered for the Lions at the DHS 46.

Foley took it down to the DHS eight, but sack on third down put the ball at the 23. Santa Marie then gave Foley the lead 29-28 just seconds into the fourth quarter on a 32-yard field goal.

DHS threatened again, but the Lions' Michael Holmes intercepted Mosley at the FHS 48. The drive went four and out though and DHS got the ball back at their 23 and moved to the 40 in six plays, but faced a fourth-and-five and took their final time out with 4:19 left in the game.

DHS went for it but failed and Foley took over on downs at the DHS 40, but the Trojans got the ball back with 1:43 seconds left at their 15 and on a third-and-10, Hail Mary, Mosley hit Yeldon who caught it at the 50, then broke two tackles, stumbled but stayed on his feet to score the go ahead TD. The PAT was no good and Daphne led 34-29.

Foley got the ball for the 15th time in the game at their own 38 and moved up to Daphne's 49 before facing a third-and-10. Powell heaved a deep pass, but Jackson came down with it in the endzone.

DHS then ran the clock out in two plays for the win.
