DAPHNE, Ala.—Daphne High School, Spanish Fort Elementary School, the Spanish Fort Fire Department, Daphne Fire Department and Daphne Police Department all have an extra $1,000 in the bank thanks to the Walmart Foundation.

During the Daphne Walmart’s grand reopening Friday morning, the store gave back to the community.

While presenting the check to the Daphne Fire Department, store manager Porter Dunlap joked, “As many times as we set off the fire alarm during this remodel, they certainly earned it.”

Walmart has been in Daphne for 25 years.

Remodeling began on the store in April and the store has been rearranged to provide a more convenient shopping experience, a spokesperson stated.

According to Dunlap, the improvements made to the store include better lighting, a new layout, wider aisles, easy-to-read signage and bright paint.

The grand reopening festivities will continue this weekend with jump houses and free popcorn on June 4 and grand reopening sales.
