DAPHNE, Ala.—Vino e Birra is hosting a Spring Festival wine and beer tasting event with a portion of proceeds going to Supporting Educational Enrichment in Daphne’s Schools.)
The store, at 790 Daphne Ave., will host the event May 7 from 4 to 7 p.m.
George McKee, one of the three business owners, said the retail store has made a commitment to philanthropic events.
“We did a wine festival last October and we did a donation of money to Smile Train and we want to do a little wine event every spring and fall. This event next week, we thought it would be a good idea to do it for something local with the schools,” McKee said.
Vino e Birra formed a relationship with SEEDS — which supports the five Daphne public schools and Christ the King Catholic School — during another fundraiser for the group, Mamma Mia.
During the event, people will be able to try wine and 15 types of beer while enjoying the music of Roman Street. The chef from Guido’s will provide food during the event. McKee said the wines haven’t been selected, but event goers can expect there to be at least 50 wines available.
Tickets for the event cost $25 per person and can be purchased at Vino e Birra prior to the event or at the gate. Seventy tickets for the event have already been sold, and McKee expects to sell at least 120. For more information call 251-626-5678.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to SEEDS, McKee said, but the exact amount will depend on the material costs associated with the event, including the fee for the band.
“We aren’t sure how much we will be able to donate, but it will be very beneficial to them [SEEDS],” McKee said.
