DAPHNE, Ala.—Daphne Mayor Fred Small’s “Coffee with the Mayor” event on July 28 will give residents the chance to hear what is going on in each city department and pose questions to all department heads.
Small’s events typically include a guest speaker from the community, but this month, Small said he thought the community could benefit from a candid conversation about the state of the city and what lies in the future.
All department heads are expected to give an update on what their department has been up to and what plans are for the near future.
The theme for this month’s event is “What are you thinking about?”
Small has been hosting “Coffee with the Mayor” since he came into office six years ago, as a way to involve the community in government, Jane Ellis, assistant to the mayor, said.
“These events are to keep the citizens informed in not only things that might be of interest to them, but the department heads are also always present,” Ellis said.
Small hosts these events on the last Thursday of every other month at 8:30 a.m. at City Hall in City Council Chambers. The next event will be held on Sept. 30.
