FAIRHOPE, Ala. – Daphne improved to 2-0 in 6A Region 3 volleyball Tuesday with a 25-12, 25-20, 26-24 win at Fairhope.

The Lady Pirates rallied in game two and led in game three forcing two game-points on the Lady Trojans. But Daphne held on to take the best-of-five area showdown.

"Overall, we're playing sound volleyball," said Daphne head coach Edoli Herrion. "It could be better but it’s getting better. We need to pick up our tip game and communicate more. As long as we talk and look at each other we'll be OK. We had some obstacles, some illness issues last week, but we are passing, serving more as a team. Controlled aggression – that's the key for us to stay on top of our game."

DHS was led by Cherilyn Ramsey, who had 12 kills with three blocks, Deanna Vogler had 10 kills and five digs while Kaylin Lee and Kayla Owens had six kills each. Kelsey Roebuck had three kills.

Krista Owens had 21 digs and Taylor Barnette 10 digs. Kayla Owens had 32 assists. Barkley Langan and Krista Owens added six assists each.

Fairhope rallied back in game two and took the lead in the third to game point on strong serving runs by Courtney Ellis and Sara Litteken and strong net play by Rachel Cooper, Kali Martin and Taylor O'Neil.
