MIAMI, Fla. – Former Daphne Trojan and West Virginia University Mountaineer Patrick White was injured during a game with his NFL team, the Miami Dolphins, on Sunday.
White, a rookie quarterback with the Dolphins, went down after a head-to-head collision with Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor on Sunday. The rookie entered the game when starting quarterback Chad Henne was injured earlier in the game. The hit briefly left him motionless, but he was able to move his arms and legs before being taken off the field.
He was released from the hospital on Monday and drove to a Dolphin team meeting.
White’s former Daphne head coach Glenn Vickery spoke to White's parents Bo and Vonemetris White on Monday.
“I just talked to Chief White,” Vickery said. “He and his wife are driving back to Daphne now. They were at the game and stayed until Pat was released from the hospital this morning. I told Chief, ‘When Pat went down you could feel all the prayers in Daphne going up.’ He said Pat was better. He said Pat's got a lot of cobwebs to shake off.”
