Verna Lewis Postle Davis, 89, a native and resident of Robertsdale, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010.

She graduated as valedictorian from Robertsdale High School in 1939 and was a Justice of the Peace for Baldwin County. She and her husband owned and operated U.S. Garage, Robertsdale during the 1950s and 1960s before moving to Louisiana and later to Decatur where her husband worked for the Department of Interior, Fish and Wildlife Service. She served as secretary for the Antioch Baptist Church in Decatur and also served many years as the secretary for Bethel Baptist Church before retiring.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Davis and son, Lewis Fred Postle.

Survivors include a daughter, Cecelia (Charles) Day of Fairhope; sister, Vera Sutherland of Ft. Worth, Texas; six grandchildren, Brian Lewis Postle, Julie Postle (Ray) Bertolla, Chad Durwood (Leigh) Postle, Chip Day, Chesley (Tim) Bowling and Craig Day; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives; and a special niece and caregiver, Geri Stastka.

A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12 at Bethel Baptist Church in Robertsdale.
