Jerry Dean Davis, born Aug. 17, 1935 in Pike County, a resident of Gulf Shores for 25 years died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009 in Birmingham.

He accepted the Lord in 1958 and he kept his faith in God.

He went to barber college in Macon, Ga., and married Emma Jean Mulkey Davis in 1954. He was the co-owner with his wife Jean of the Magic Scissors in Gulf Shores. He had his barber license for 54 years as well as being a real estate broker since 1966.

He was a honorary member of the Elks Lodge of Gulf Shores where he served as intergaurd. He was a big dreamer. He was a positive thinker. He wore many entrepreneur hats.

He believed if you didn’t take a chance on your dream it wouldn’t go anywhere. He was self educated as a business broker, Real Estate broker, construction developer and was a member of Republican Party Leader Business Advisor.

He was a recipient of the Council honorary Chairman Award, was council executive chairman of the National Republican Congressional committee and recipient of the congressional order of merit.

He touched many lives, he would council boys as he cut their hair about God and staying away from drugs. He will be sadly missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion Grady and Orphy Mitchell Flowers Davis.

Survivors include his wife, Emma Jean Davis of Gulf Shores; two sons, Jimmy (Pam) Davis of Prattville and Jeremy (LaDonna Davis of Daphne; daughter Belinda (David) Grove of Richland, Wash.; grandchildren; Christina Grove, Clint Davis, Emily Grove, Chad Davis, Andrew Grove, Corey Davis, Cade Davis, and Katelyn Davis; great-grandchildren, Sarah Grove and Abigail Grove; brother, Hubert (Alma) Davis of Phenix City; two sisters, Irone (Earl) Jacobs of Hartselle and Florence Tew of Brundidge; and sister-in-law, Beatrice Davis of Phenix City.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11 at Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12 at Springfield Baptist Church in Brundidge. Burial will follow at Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery.
