An estimated 1,000 friends and relatives attended a benefit Saturday for James Everette Davison at Pine Grove Volunteer Fire Department which netted $11,112 for cancer-related medical bills.
The funds were generated by the sale of nearly 600 sausage plates, a bake sale, yard sale and auction during the day-long event, according to Pine Grove Volunteer Fire Department secretary-treasurer Tammy Tolbert.
Davison, a volunteer fire fighter, recently was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor.
