Genevieve Behnke Day, 87, a resident of Stapleton, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at North Baldwin Infirmary in Bay Minette.
She was a member of the Ella D. Chambers Chapter 26 Order of the Eastern Star for 65 years; was past matron, the Grand Representative to Arizona and the current Grand Chapter Mother for the State of Alabama. She retired from Bay Slacks as a supervisor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leopold and Anna Behnke and her husband, Gladden B. Day.
Survivors include a son, Philip Day of Stapleton; daughter, Jane D. Martin of Bay Minette; two brothers, Leopold Behnke of Stuart, Fla., and George Behnke of Melbourne, Fla.; two sisters, Anna Reimann of Skenectaty, N.Y., and Anita Krywick of Long Island, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 17 from the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with the Rev. Keith Cardwell officiating. An Eastern Star service will be rendered by the Ella D. Chambers Chapter No. 26 Order of Eastern Star. Burial will follow at Bay Minette Cemetery.
