The Daphne Beautification Committee announced that the Daphne/Spanish Fort Kiwanis Club has volunteered to partner with the committee in keeping “Gator Alley” at D’Olive Park on Main Street clean.

The Kiwanis Club is dedicated to helping children and supports the Key Club at Spanish Fort and Daphne public schools, along with Bayside Academy. It invites visitors to join at Wednesday meetings held at noon at Ryan’s Steak House in Spanish Fort’s Eastern Shore Centre.

The sub-committees are busy planning for fall planting and maintenance projects. Included in the their planning are public park areas, Daphne’s Dog Park, U.S. Highway 98 medians and city Christmas decorations.

The committee appreciates the efforts of all who contribute to the beautification of Daphne, a spokesperson said, expressing gratitude to the following: Pat Wilden, the city volunteer coordinator; the Public Works Department; Parks and Recreation Department; and its newest volunteer group, Daphne/Spanish Fort Kiwanis Club.

Any individuals or organizations interested in assisting the committee in projects to improve the city of Daphne’s surroundings would be greatly appreciated, a spokesperson said. Meetings are held at 9 a.m. the first Friday of the month at the City Hall.
