FAIRHOPE, Ala. — The Baldwin County Home Builders Association and its Associate Council is offering scholarships for area students. The application deadline for this year is April 16.
Qualifying students must be enrolled in construction-related studies at a technical school or college. To date, the Association has awarded $45,000 in scholarships to help students in Baldwin County prepare for careers in the home building industry. The scholarships are administered by the BCHBA scholarship committee.
To qualify for a scholarship, applicants:
• Must be a permanent resident of Baldwin County.
• Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
• Must have taken the ACT or SAT test for entering college, and have sufficient score to permit entry in the college, business school or technical school if such a score is required for entry.
• Must be in need of financial assistance, which must be clearly indicated on the application.
• Must be furthering their education in the housing industry or a related field.
• Must be sponsored by a member of the Baldwin County Home Builders Association.
Scholarship funds are paid directly to the college, business school or technical school within the school year for which it is awarded. Applicants may compete in succeeding years but must reapply and meet all application criteria as if applying for the first year.
